The Creative Act by Rick Rubin

What is true is that you are never alone when making art. You are in a constant dialogue with what is and what was, and the closer you tune in to that discussion, the better you can serve the work before you.

Rick Rubin | The Creative Act | Page 91

This is not a book review. This reflects what I am learning from Rick Rubin's book. I have yet to complete the book, but I can sense that I am changing as an artist. Well, we all are changing, but I've had so many breakthroughs from The Creative Act. Even if you don't call yourself an artist, know that we all are artists in our ways, and every day, we create art, sometimes unconsciously.  Art expresses the human soul, reflecting our deepest emotions, desires, and experiences. It is a means of communication that transcends language and culture, speaking directly to the heart and mind of the observer. As such, art is a fundamental aspect of human existence, revealing our true nature and potential as creative beings. Creating art is a profound and transformative experience that requires a deep understanding of oneself and the world around us. Through the creative process, we can access the hidden depths of our being, tapping into the infinite wellspring of creativity that lies within. Art is not simply a product of the human imagination but a reflection of the universal consciousness that permeates all existence. It is a manifestation of the divine spark that resides within us, a review of the beauty and wonder of the cosmos itself.

In creating art, we engage in a sacred act that can transform ourselves and the world around us. By bringing our deepest desires and passions into physical form, we can manifest our dreams and aspirations in the world, creating a tangible expression of our innermost selves. Through art, we can transcend the limitations of the material world, accessing a realm of pure creativity and imagination. It is a space of limitless potential, where everything is possible and connected. As artists, we can change the world, inspire and uplift others, and transform ourselves. By tapping into the infinite wellspring of creativity, we can bring new ideas, new perspectives, and new possibilities into the world, creating a better and more beautiful future for all humanity.

Ultimately, art is a way of being, expressing our most authentic selves, and connecting with the world. It is a journey of self-discovery and self-expression, a means of accessing the most profound truths of our being and sharing them with the world. Through art, we can realize our full potential as human beings and create a world that reflects the beauty and wonder of our true nature.

A conversation with Max Hindle

This is my interaction with Max Hindle back in March 2020. This is a part of my Collaboration. I connect with other aspiring Entrepreneurs, personal development coaches, and artists. I ask them questions regarding various aspects of one’s life which is aimed for the readers to apply it in their own lives.

Today we have Max Hindle. Max is a Hypnotherapist from East Sussex, UK. Today you’ll be reading about how he completely changed his life and is working on doing the same for others.

 Let’s begin.

Before we get into the questions, tell the readers about yourself.

I am Max Hindle, a hypnotherapist working with conscious business/career-driven professionals to transform their lives. I am based in East Sussex, UK. I used to be at a place in my life that I call self-destruct; I was drinking and taking drugs all the time, which led to such bad inner pain and questioning, ‘Why me? What have I done? Who even likes me’.

Your content is mainly based on the power of the mind. What inspired you to get into this field?

I have suffered from anxiety and was never confident because of all the drugs I took, which spiraled into the wrong place. After having a shallow level of motivation & and ability to learn/read.
After I started my personal development journey, I started becoming more and more interested in the mind, which led me to model people who inspire me (Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Bruce Lipton, Tony Robbins, Jay Shetty) and found out the route I wanted to take which is a little less conventional than a degree but gave me the useful ability to help others produce quick and easy changes in their life.

In a world where negativity is so easy to attract, what can a person do to stay positive?

We have so much access to videos, books, and audio that explain positivity, so the key isn’t about getting more knowledge; the key is to act upon the little things such as:

– Waking up and asking yourself, ‘Who do I want to be today’… ‘What am I grateful for’ and ‘What would my future self be doing today.’
When you figure this out daily, your life perspective will change, just like mine. I just wanted money initially, but now I have created happiness, confidence, and competence, and my financial journey is opening up. Remember, the money won’t make you happy, do the inner work alongside the daily rituals that bring inner happiness.

What advice would you give to someone who is stuck in their life? Whether it be at their job or they are in a toxic environment.

Honestly, I would say get your ass out of there; I had multiple jobs where the boss treated me like a piece of gum on his shoe (which led me to want to be my boss), so I had to endure the pain of how they made me feel before I knew it was the right thing for me to do.

With toxic people, cut them out, no questions; no one has the right to tear you down your whole life. For someone negative, reduce the time you spend with them, and even let them know that you need only positivity around you in these challenging times.
When you become the change you wish to see, you can help others… but remember that it is much easier to pull someone down than it is to lift them.

How do you think someone can turn their weakness into a strength?

Gain clarity on your weakness; for me, it was confidence. So my mission was to understand how to talk to people, win friends, and influence people is the best book to read (at least a few times back to back). Then start to model someone you admire, so I looked at how Tony Robbins would act with others and put my twist on it… (it’s a marathon, not a sprint, make sure the foundations are fully formed and solid before you jump to the next thing).

What is something you live by the most?

What is meant for you will not pass you if you stay on the right path. I have it tattooed on my ribs because I genuinely believe if you do the right thing at the time and have faith in the process, it will all come eventually. That doesn’t mean what you do is the right thing overall because failure brings understanding, but if you don’t stay on the right path, you WILL NOT get what you are meant to have, and I do believe if I continued to drink and take drugs, it would have never come.

What has been your most significant learning based on how much you have experienced?

You are alive. Be happy and grateful for it. Some people have nothing in life; others are so satisfied with little. I understand it is not simple, so one great thing I did was travel and see how little others have got. I watched videos of people who have lost all their limbs and still bring joy to the world. When this is in your mind, you won’t worry about that person who cut you off in traffic.

How to not let the opinions of others distract you from one’s goal, as it is seen that most people quit because they are influenced by what people say to them?

Be 100% yourself; if people don’t like it, that is their problem. Always remember that anyone truly happy would never be nasty or hate on you. So empathize with those who disagree with your decisions and get around those who want to see you win and grow. (I never had people like that around me; I had to/still have to find new people who can inspire my growth).

Any last Max’s word of wisdom you want to share?

Your journey isn’t instant, although we would all like it to be. You won’t be able to handle success and enlightenment without failures and struggles. If you have had a tough life, like me, at times, I genuinely believe you have the upper hand as you understand the opposite. To know true happiness, you must realize sadness; to know success, you must understand failure. Keep spreading love and kindness worldwide, and see how you can make others smile/bring joy to their day!

This was amazing. I want to thank Max for doing this. He has an inspiring story. Few people go through hell and decide to turn their life around. We can learn a lot from what Max said. What he said about not being able to handle success if you have not been through failure is deep and meaningful, which I live by as well. Failure is a part of life. As said, Slow success builds character; Fast success makes Ego.

A conversation with Adrian Alvarez

Greetings and welcome back! I hope you're doing well. I'm thrilled to present this post, which results from collaborating with like-minded individuals on a journey of self-improvement. Their drive and motivation set them apart, and I find that inspiring. Our guest is Adrian Alvarez, whom I connected with on Instagram eight months ago. Adrian is passionate about self-improvement and has been helping others in this regard. Without further ado, I'd like to share our conversation with you, and I hope you'll find it valuable.

Before answering the questions, could you tell the readers about yourself?

My name is Adrian Alvarez; I’m based out of the Midwest in Northern Indiana. My goal is to impact current and aspiring entrepreneurs through my Instagram page. I look to keep learning the mindset, communication, and public speaking game while sharing my entrepreneurial journey.

What is something you live by the most?

Overall, something I stand firmly behind and live by is an improvement. I always believed if you aren’t getting better every day, you are getting worse; there is no middle. Whether you are trying to improve yourself, your business, or your personal life, improve and continue.

 What is your motivation?

Honestly, what drives me is the fear of being average and just coasting through life. I have seen so many people with massive potential let it go to waste, and I can’t let that happen. Outside of that, creating a better life for myself and the people closest to me motivates me just as much.

What do you think is/are the traits a person must have to become successful in anything?

Something I have seen in all the successful people I follow and learn from is their powerful mindset and belief system in their ability. In terms of air, they are so mentally tough and persistent in getting what they need to get done, done. So if you ask for some traits, I'd say mental toughness, grit, a strong work ethic, and consistency, with the addition of improving daily upon those things.

What has been your most significant learning based on how much you’ve experienced?

As someone who was always highly insecure and shy, I learned as I got older that you know others' opinions don’t impact what you can accomplish. People will have an idea of whether you do something or nothing, so you might as well do something.

What do you think the youths of today should mainly improve on?

PATIENCE. We can almost have everything instantly, and people want their results to be the same. It’s just not going to happen. I always preach that with consistent hard work, your results will come, but you’ll have to have patience along the way.

How do you think one person can turn their weakness into a strength? (For example, If a person has a hard time communicating with other people, How can he go out and sell)

My biggest tip here is to do it over and over. Many people like to shy away from their weaknesses; for example, they struggle to talk in front of people, so they refuse to do it or avoid it altogether. Never let fear control what you do. If anything, use it as motivation to prove it wrong and do what you need to do. Whatever you are struggling to get better at. Google/ Youtube ways to improve, then practice and start doing it. Always remember, when you do it once, it’ll only get easier as you’ll only get better.

Any final Adrian words of wisdom you want to share?

Live for yourself and the people you wish to serve. I promise the road less traveled is the road entrepreneurs take, and yes, you will be looked at funny, talked about, and questioned a lot, don’t let it get to you. Most of the time, people falter because of others' opinions of them or from failures; fix it by focusing on your results and the people you are helping and improving your mindset to use the failures as stepping stones.

I would like to express my gratitude towards Adrian for sparing his valuable time for this interview. I believe that this conversation will prove beneficial for individuals facing challenges in various aspects of their lives, especially for those who are easily affected by others' opinions. If you are one of those people, I highly recommend that you pay close attention to Adrian's insights and try to apply them in your life.

 Take Care!
